News Page & Video Update

Hello Family,

We have some COVID-19 updates for you today.

We are adding a new page to our website (www.mccookefree.org/news), specifically for COVID-19 related changes. This page, will be our “Central Hub”, for any and all announcements we make related to the COVID outbreak. Please check it often.

There will be NO Awana or Youth Outlet Groups Wednesday evening, this week.

The Women’s Workshop scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled.

The staff will be communicating with ministry leaders regarding changes that may or may not be made with other activities or events.

At this moment, we have no announcement regarding church Sunday, but as soon as we do we will let you know.

This virus is going to present unique needs within both our community and church body. We want to be the Church! We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus, when many in our church and community are at the most risk. We want to turn this broken situation into a blessing, in Jesus’ name. So…

If you are in need, we want to help as best we can. The best way for us to help one another is through our network of LifeTeams. If you are in a LifeTeam, please contact your fellow LifeTeam members often to see how you can help one another. Especially those who are at high risk when being out and about. If you are not in a LifeTeam and need groceries, essentials, or medication to be delivered, please let us know by calling us at 308-345-1661 or contacting us by filling out this form. We have created a plan and process for getting those delivered to you.

Further if, you know of someone who needs help, whether they are an individual or an organization in our community or some other situation in town, check in on them or please tell us. We can’t guarantee that we can help, but we will do our best.

If you want to volunteer to help us in helping others, please let us know as well. What an amazing opportunity to love well.

We will keep you as updated as possible. Have a great evening.

Pastor Jeff

COVID Pastor Jeff Update

Dear McCook E-Free Family,

I want to drop you a note this evening to remind you that we are having services as planned tomorrow March 15, 2020 at 9:00a and 10:45a. And we will be streaming the 10:45a service live on Facebook and our website.

But I also want to continue to ask you to use great caution. Please, do NOT feel obligated to attend church in person. I know watching online may be new for some, but especially in a situation such as this it’s ok, and better than being anxious or being exposed or exposing others to unneeded germs. If you or someone in your family are sick, or you have a compromised immune system, please stay home! Please! I might also suggest that if you have been traveling out of the area and/or in a situation in which you were in close proximity to lots of people recently, it might be a good idea to stay home as well. Statistically COVID-19 has been much more severe for those who are 65 years and older, so if you are, again, be cautious.

If you do attend in person, remember…

No shaking hands. Give a wave or an air high five.

Wash your hands thoroughly and often.

Use hand sanitizer often.

Avoid touching other people or objects unnecessarily.

Bring rags to cough or sneeze into and throw away.

It is awesome, that as a church we have such a strong desire to come together as a body and worship and grow as His disciples. But, we must be cautious and wise as well. Come if you want. Stay home if you want. Either way, God will be worshipped! He is good!

Pastor Jeff

COVID-19 Board & Staff Update

Dear McCook E-Free Family –

With the increased news of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as flu and cold season, McCook E-Free will continue with our normal activities. We encourage all to come and be a part of our services and activities, however, we do ask that if you are not feeling well to respect not spreading what you have with others and stay home.

However, we are cancelling the potluck scheduled for this Sunday.

Please be mindful of the guidance from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC:

You can help protect yourself from COVID-19 and other respiratory infections by:

· Staying home if you are sick and avoiding close contact with those who are sick.

· Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

· Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze then throw the tissue in the trash.

· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

· Follow the same family plan kits that people may use for flu season or severe weather season.

During this time, here’s how we are committed to keeping our church facilities clean:

· For some time, our custodian, (Steve Kotschwar), has been using a hospital grade disinfectant which is listed on the CDC’s list of approved formulas for combatting the virus. It is used to sanitized “high touch surfaces” such as light switches, counters, tables, doorknobs, toilet seats, handles, sink handles, etc. There is also a mild bleach wash being used to disinfect. Disinfecting is being done twice a week.

· All toys in the nursery and classrooms have been sanitized.

· Our staff and volunteers will wash their hands frequently and stay home if they are sick.

During this time, we are asking you to help stop the spread of this and any virus in the following ways:

· The CDC recommends not attending gatherings of 250 or more for those over 65 years of age, those who are currently ill, or those who have a compromised immune system.

· All should stay at home when you or a family member are sick.

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

· Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue or your arm.

· Get in the habit of NOT touching your face so often.

· Forgo shaking hands at church for a wave or a friendly smile.

· If you or someone you know tests positive for COVID-19, please let us know so we can find a way to help, pray for everyone involved, and take any necessary precautions here at McCook E-Free.

If you or a family member are sick or need to stay home during this time, you are welcome to watch Sunday services online. We currently live stream our 10:45am service on our Facebook Page.

Please be assured that we are working diligently to keep up to date with information. Based on any new recommendations or information, we will make adjustments to our response as necessary and notify you of those adjustments. The health and safety of our people and community is our top priority!

We trust the sovereignty of God and his goodness but want to be smart about how we handle this situation. We hope you will join us in praying for those directly affected by the virus and our leaders who are making decisions regarding our safety.

We love you all. Wash your hands and stay healthy!

In Christ,

The McCook E-Free Board & Staff
