COVID-19 Board & Staff Update

Dear McCook E-Free Family –

With the increased news of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as flu and cold season, McCook E-Free will continue with our normal activities. We encourage all to come and be a part of our services and activities, however, we do ask that if you are not feeling well to respect not spreading what you have with others and stay home.

However, we are cancelling the potluck scheduled for this Sunday.

Please be mindful of the guidance from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC:

You can help protect yourself from COVID-19 and other respiratory infections by:

· Staying home if you are sick and avoiding close contact with those who are sick.

· Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

· Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze then throw the tissue in the trash.

· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

· Follow the same family plan kits that people may use for flu season or severe weather season.

During this time, here’s how we are committed to keeping our church facilities clean:

· For some time, our custodian, (Steve Kotschwar), has been using a hospital grade disinfectant which is listed on the CDC’s list of approved formulas for combatting the virus. It is used to sanitized “high touch surfaces” such as light switches, counters, tables, doorknobs, toilet seats, handles, sink handles, etc. There is also a mild bleach wash being used to disinfect. Disinfecting is being done twice a week.

· All toys in the nursery and classrooms have been sanitized.

· Our staff and volunteers will wash their hands frequently and stay home if they are sick.

During this time, we are asking you to help stop the spread of this and any virus in the following ways:

· The CDC recommends not attending gatherings of 250 or more for those over 65 years of age, those who are currently ill, or those who have a compromised immune system.

· All should stay at home when you or a family member are sick.

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

· Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue or your arm.

· Get in the habit of NOT touching your face so often.

· Forgo shaking hands at church for a wave or a friendly smile.

· If you or someone you know tests positive for COVID-19, please let us know so we can find a way to help, pray for everyone involved, and take any necessary precautions here at McCook E-Free.

If you or a family member are sick or need to stay home during this time, you are welcome to watch Sunday services online. We currently live stream our 10:45am service on our Facebook Page.

Please be assured that we are working diligently to keep up to date with information. Based on any new recommendations or information, we will make adjustments to our response as necessary and notify you of those adjustments. The health and safety of our people and community is our top priority!

We trust the sovereignty of God and his goodness but want to be smart about how we handle this situation. We hope you will join us in praying for those directly affected by the virus and our leaders who are making decisions regarding our safety.

We love you all. Wash your hands and stay healthy!

In Christ,

The McCook E-Free Board & Staff
